terms · the deal, in plain words

chatlobby terms of use

using chatlobby means agreeing to what is on this page and to the rules. it is short on purpose. if something here is unclear, write to hello@chatlobby.cc.

who you are dealing with

chatlobby is run by its operator, whose registered name and postal address are on the 2257 statement. the privacy policy says what is collected about you and for how long.

you must be an adult

you must be 18 or older to use this site, everywhere on it. parts of chatlobby carry adult content. if you are under 18, leave now. accounts and profiles that appear to belong to a minor are removed without discussion.

accounts and profiles

you can use chatlobby without an account. a profile lasts about an hour after you stop using it and is then deleted. an account is optional and is unlocked with a key: there is no email, no phone number and no way to reset a lost key. keep it somewhere safe. an account is yours alone — do not share the key, and do not make more than one to get around a limit or a ban.

what you post

what you write and upload stays yours. by posting it you give chatlobby permission to show it to the people it was sent to, for as long as it exists here — which, for messages and chat media, is about 24 hours. you are responsible for it: do not post anything you do not have the right to post, and nothing the rules forbid.

moderators can remove any content and any person, at any time, with or without notice, for breaking the rules or for making the site worse for others. there is no appeal process, but you can write to the address above and a human will read it.

sparks

sparks are points earned by being here — from watching ads, from being active, from other people liking what you do. they can be spent on things inside the site: skins, badges, a turn on the swap, getting a group noticed, or entering a group that charges for it. they are not money. they have no cash value, cannot be bought with money, cannot be cashed out, and cannot be moved to anyone else except where the site itself does it (a group host receiving part of an entry fee, for example). balances can be adjusted or reset if they were obtained by abuse, and the things sparks buy, and what they cost, can change.

nothing on chatlobby is sold for money. there is therefore nothing to refund. a contribution on the support page is a gift toward the running costs: it buys nothing, unlocks nothing, and is not returned.

the swap

the swap shows you media that other people submitted, chosen at random from what they chose to share. by drawing, you accept that you may see adult content and that what you see was screened by other users, not by the operator in advance. if you see something that should not be there, report it from the card. if you submit to the swap, you confirm you have the right to share what you submit and that everyone in it is an adult who agreed to it.

no promises

chatlobby is provided as it is, when it is up. it may change, break, or go away. as far as the law allows, the operator is not liable for anything that happens because of using it, including what other people say or send to you, and including the loss of an account whose key was lost. nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited.

which law

these terms are governed by the law of France. if you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or elsewhere in the european union, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you may bring a claim there.

changes

these terms can change. the date at the bottom is when they last did. keeping on using the site after a change means accepting it. anything substantial is noted on the changelog.
